According to him, purslane is used to treat diseases caused by dysentery bacteria such as bloody stools, acute enteritis, nephritis, gout, edema, cystitis, difficult bowel movements, whooping cough, persistent cough, pinworms, roundworms, skin diseases, boils, itching, impetigo, eczema, hemorrhoids with bleeding, leukorrhea and uterine bleeding in women. The usual dosage is 30-60g of fresh purslane or 15-20g of dried purslane, used externally, depending on the size of the application site to use correctly.
“People with weak spleen and stomach, diarrhea, pregnant women, and people with kidney stones should not use it (purslane has a lot of calcium, which will create a lot of oxalic acid, making it more difficult for kidney stone patients to treat the disease,” Mr. Minh noted.
Below are some medicinal recipes from purslane given by this physician.:
- Treatment of bacillary dysentery:Fresh purslane 50-60g fresh or 25g dried, bitter yellow 6g or coptis 6g. Boil and drink 1 dose per day, can combine with berberine will have a very good effect in treating diarrhea.
- Pinworm treatment: 50-70g fresh purslane, wash, squeeze dry, take the juice to drink. Drink continuously for 3-5 days, can add a little sugar to make it easier to drink.
- Treatment of acute nephritis: Fresh purslane 50-70g, sea cucumber 30g, Phellodendron 10g, decoct and drink 1 dose per day.
- Treatment of postpartum bleeding: Fresh purslane 200g or dried purslane 60g, boil until concentrated, divide into 2 doses, drink during the day.
- Treatment of drug poisoning: 60g fresh purslane, crushed or blended, squeezed to get the juice to drink, the pulp applied to the navel.
- Treatment of vaginal itching and hemorrhoids:Fresh or dried purslane, boil to get the water and soak and wash.
