(Baonghean) - With practical support programs, many agencies, units and businesses in the province have helped people in the Western region to sustainably reduce poverty. That has made the mountainous and highland areas prosper.

For several years now, the people of Phong village, Thach Giam commune (Tuong Duong) have had a significant additional source of income, gradually escaping poverty. That is the clean vegetable product grown by the people themselves from the support model of the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee in coordination with the Faculty of Agriculture - Forestry - Fisheries, Vinh University. 35/165 households in Phong village have participated in the implementation, with each household being contracted an average of 600m2 for clean vegetable production.

Taking us to visit the green vegetable fields, Vice-Chairman Mac Xuan Nui said: “This is a project applying scientific and technological advances, building a safe vegetable production model that has been implemented since June 2011. The area of 2 hectares was previously barren land, the villagers reclaimed it to grow rice but lacked water all year round so most of it had to be left fallow. Now, as you can see, it has become a specialized area for clean vegetables with high income”. Mr. Nui’s family also participates in the clean vegetable production project. Every day, in addition to taking care of food production and raising livestock and poultry, Mr. Nui and his wife also take the time to fertilize and harvest vegetables. After each vegetable crop, his family earns about 8 million VND in profit.

From Thach Giam, we went up to Luu Kien commune (Tuong Duong), a locality that is receiving support from the Provincial Federation of Labor (FFL). Arriving at Luu Thong village, we stopped by to visit Vu Tong Ma's new house. His family is a poor household, previously living in a dilapidated house that was flooded every time it rained. With the support of 20 million VND from the Provincial Federation of Labor, along with savings and help from relatives and villagers, he was able to build a sturdy house, no longer worried every time it rained heavily. Many other families such as: Lu Van Phuc (Pung village), Mac Thi May (Khe Kien), Lo Van Ta (Con Muong), La Van Tuat, Vi Van Bun, Lo Van May (Xoong Con) were all supported by the Provincial Federation of Labor with money to build houses. At the beginning of each new school year, schools and poor students in the area are given desks, chairs, books, and clothes. These are practical gifts to help the poor in Luu Kien commune gradually improve their lives.

Also in Tuong Duong district, Nghe An Newspaper received help from Xieng My - a remote commune more than 70 km from the district center, where the poverty rate is still high (about 80%). When receiving help, the agency's leaders repeatedly went to each village to survey the situation and understand the needs to come up with reasonable solutions. On that basis, the Newspaper's Editorial Board decided to help the locality by donating livestock breeds to help poor households develop their economy. With funding mobilized from officials, reporters and staff of the agency, up to now, 8 breeding cows have been donated to 8 poor households. These households will raise the cows until they give birth and the calves are strong, then transfer the breeding cows to other poor households to raise. Like that, after many years, many poor households in Xieng My have breeding cows to raise, contributing to improving their family lives. Nghe An Newspaper is continuing to support breeding cows and pigs for the poor in Xieng My, helping them gradually escape poverty. In particular, at the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year, in response to the program "Step up to school", Nghe An Newspaper donated more than 40 million VND, bought 26 sets of tables and chairs, 5 blackboards, more than 60 sets of clothes to give to students at Dinh Tai village school. At the same time, gave 2 gifts worth 1 million VND to 2 students in the village with especially difficult circumstances...

Mr. Lu Van Xan, Dinh Son 1 village, Huu Kiem commune (Ky Son) never forgets the gratitude of the officers and employees of the provincial Social Insurance. Because he and his wife are old and weak, no longer able to work, and have no sons or daughters married, life is difficult. The house built for decades has become dilapidated and dilapidated. In that situation, the provincial Social Insurance supported Mr. Xan with 40 million VND to build a new house. The Social Insurance agency also built a model to support black pig breeds (more than 10 pigs) for 2 poor households, Luong Van Tang (Hom village) and Luong Thi Tin (Ba village). With the support of pig breeds, these 2 families built barns and developed livestock farming. In addition, the agency also presented the People's Committee of Huu Kiem commune with a computer, photocopying equipment, and provided training in word processing skills for officials holding the positions of heads and deputy heads of departments and branches. Along with that is supporting books for students, medical equipment for schools and organizing medical examinations and distributing medicine to the poor in the area.

The lives of the Dan Lai people in Co Phat village, Mon Son commune (Con Cuong) have recently changed and improved. The road has reached the village, no longer the scene of taking a boat up the Giang river or walking all day. The electricity grid has been brought to each house, bringing the light of civilization, lighting up the hope of escaping poverty. The primary schools in Co Phat and Khe Bung have also been invested in and built spaciously, creating conditions for the children of the Dan Lai people to go to school. The combined military-civilian-medical station operates very effectively, contributing significantly to the health care of the people.

All of these factors bear the mark of the Nghe An border guards, the unit that received help from Mon Son commune. In addition, the provincial Border Guard also received help from Tam Hop commune (Tuong Duong) and Bac Ly commune (Ky Son). Nghe An border guards also gave people from the communes 15 savings books (each book worth 5 million VND).
