"Stream of thousands" in the middle of the city
(Baonghean) - "The clear, babbling streams flowing from the great forest are streams of water squeezed from the twists and turns of the mountains and forests, from the essence of the vast nature... The magazine "Suoi Ngan", the stream flowing from the great forest are verses of poetry and pages of literature distilled from the pure souls of the children..." Those are the prefaces of the magazine "Suoi Ngan" - the intellectual and cultural product of the teachers and students of the Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities - High School No. 2 Nghe An.
From the first issue published on the occasion of the Teacher Appreciation Day on November 20, 2012, up to now, the cultural and spiritual magazine of teachers and students of the school has had 4 issues and is currently in the final editing stage to "release" the 5th issue. Holding in hand the manuscript pages still warm with ink, one cannot help but be moved by the simple lines and poems that are full of the sincere emotions of the students about their school, their hometown, the mountains and streams of their childhood. There is a poem with a very simple and affectionate title: "Mom!":

The magazine "Suoi Ngan" has become spiritual food for students of ethnic minorities. |
“I miss you so much, Mom, those quiet afternoons.
Wind twists and turns around the thatched roof
Sitting next to mother by the warm fire
The crab's claws turned the whole pot of soup red...".
(Ly Thi Hoai. K1- A1)
And the feelings of love and regret of a final year student, when he is surprised to realize that time is passing very quickly, the memories of his youth at school with teachers, friends will only remain in his memory. I quietly recited a few lines of poetry written by hand, signed Le Thi Cuc (K1-C1). The poem was written in blue ink, with neat handwriting and graceful hooks, and was titled “The Last Season” by the author:
"Autumn is absent-minded and then bewildered in May
The banyan tree of childhood still stands innocently waiting
Which song sounds so far away?
Autumn is here… and so… tomorrow is far away
Autumn to pick up past memories
The second floor classroom is like a little paradise.
One step, two steps with a smile of flowers and grass
Good morning, fresh!...”.
Just like that, each page of the manuscript is a confession of feelings, not only students, but also teachers also sent to the magazine "Suoi Ngan" their passionate feelings for the school. Teacher Dang Phuc Long, who is often criticized by students for being "difficult", chose to send his feelings in poetry to tell the students:
“… In the dream there are great forests and cities
The sound of the stream flowing through the stream of cars
The mountain is hidden behind the tall building.
The long drumbeat heralds the future…”.
Spreading throughout the issues of the “Suoi Ngan” Magazine, is the sincere and pure sentiment, and that natural emotional flow is exactly what those who cherished the idea of having a rustic, simple magazine, truly true and truly in line with the aspirations of the teachers and students of the school aimed for. The teachers in the Editorial Board of the magazine only trimmed away small grammatical errors, arranged a little bit of awkward sentences and spelling, but everything else was kept intact. The verses may be clumsy, the writing is still not necessarily smooth, but above all, the genuine and pure underground flow will be the source of nourishment for the students’ souls and poetic feelings. With the same meaning, the “Suoi Ngan” Magazine does not specify the number of pages, because all the works that the students send in, the teachers try to arrange for publication, hoping to bring excitement and joy to the young writers.
Participating in writing for the magazine is also a way to practice writing. In the joy of receiving the news that her essay was praised by her teachers, Vi Phuong Thao, a 12th grade student of C1 shared with us: “I write essays about my hometown - Chau Hoi, Quy Chau. I participate in every issue of the magazine, and the teachers encourage me to write better and better. Every time the magazine is published, my friends and I read our articles carefully to see what mistakes the teachers have edited to learn from them. The Literature scores of my classmates have also improved a lot, because through the articles for the magazine, we learn how to write with correct grammar and more emotion.”
Standing next to him, absorbed in holding the magazine No. 4 and carefully reading each work, Tho Ba Cho, a student of class 11A1, stood out the most because of his Mong ethnic costume. It turned out that Cho was rehearsing the Khen dance and performing in ethnic costumes for the upcoming performance to celebrate Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20). Taking advantage of the break, he ran down to the school library to register to borrow a magazine so that he could go back to his hometown this weekend and bring it along to read to his parents and friends. Tho Ba Cho softly shared: "My hometown is Tri Le, Que Phong. In my hometown, there are friends who do not have the conditions to study further but still love to read newspapers and books. I borrowed the magazine to let my friends read, and also to show them that I have an article published in the newspaper!"
The simple joys of the students of Nghe An Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities - High School No. 2 sincerely exist on the September autumn morning like thousands of streams converging into the ocean. The school has become a loving common home, a place to nurture the students' future dreams.
