Sydney: Two appear in court on terrorism plot charges
(Baonghean.vn) - On February 17, Omar Al-Kutobi, an Iraqi immigrant, and Mohamad Kiad, a Kuwaiti student, appeared in court in Sydney on charges of plotting a terrorist attack.
Omar Al-Kutobi, a 25-year-old Iraqi migrant, and Mohammad Kiad, a 26-year-old Kuwaiti student, agreed to appear in Sydney's Central Court today, after they decided to waive their right to an appeal.

The two were arrested in Fairfield last year during a police sweep.
At the scene, police seized two knives, a homemade Islamic State flag and a videotape of a man describing how to organize an attack.

Evidence presented at trial showed that in the first two months of 2015, the two men had plotted or were planning a terrorist attack.
However, the indictment against Mohamad Kiad was dropped on the same day, February 17. The couple is currently in custody pending a final decision by the Supreme Court.
