Syria prepares to launch a chemical weapons attack
(Baonghean.vn)- On June 26, in a White House announcement, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad may be preparing a chemical weapons attack that would result in “mass killing” of civilians. Washington warned that the Damascus government would “pay a heavy price” if it carried out such an attack.

“The United States has detected preparations for a chemical weapons attack by the Syrian regime that would result in the mass killing of civilians, including innocent children. These activities are similar to the preparations for the April 4 chemical weapons attack by the Assad regime,” said White House spokesman Sean Spicer.
“As we have said, the United States is in Syria to destroy ISIL in Iraq and Syria,” Spicer added. “However, if President Assad conducts another attack of mass destruction using chemical weapons, he and his military will pay a heavy price.”

On April 4, at least 87 people, including 31 children, were killed in a suspected chemical weapons attack in the rebel-held town of Khan Sheikhun in Syria. The West accused President Bashar al-Assad's forces of carrying out the attack. The Syrian government has firmly denied involvement in the attack, affirming that the Syrian armed forces have never and will never use chemical weapons in attacks./.
