Syrian state television reported that last night (December 25), the country's air defense system intercepted several missiles that appeared to be preparing to attack targets around the capital Damascus.
A series of explosions were heard in the capital. Witnesses said they saw missiles from the air defense system flashing at unidentified targets in the sky.
After more than seven years of civil war, Syrian President Bashar Assad has liberated the capital, pushing rebel fighters out of the suburbs with Russian military support. Government forces now control about two-thirds of the country./.
