The plant is often used to treat colds, fever, headache, yellow-red urine, painful urination, edema, itching, allergies, etc.
The plant has other names such as dang xay, kim hoa thao, ma manh thao, nhi huong thao, quynh ma, co to ep (Thai), Phao ton (Tay). It is a small plant, grows in bushes, lives annually or perennially, 1 - 2m high.
The whole body and parts of the plant have soft hairs. The leaves grow alternately, are heart-shaped, have serrated edges, yellow flowers, grow individually in the leaf axils, have petioles as long as the petioles. The fruit consists of up to 20 carpels stuck together, looking like a millstone. Each carpel contains 3 kidney-shaped, smooth, light black seeds. Flowering season is from February to April, fruiting season is from April to June. Commonly found in fences, wastelands, foothills, and fields. The medicinal herbs are harvested, washed to remove dirt, cut into short pieces, used fresh or dried for later use.

Some prescriptions use the plant
Treating colds and headaches due to wind heat: 12-16g of the plant, 8g of bamboo leaves, 6g of mint, 8g of perilla, 12g of honeysuckle, boil with 750ml of water, reduce to 250ml, divide into 2 doses, drink before meals. Or: 20g of the plant, 20g of Chinese angelica, 10g of mint, 5g of licorice, 3 slices of fresh ginger, boil in water and drink during the day. Use for 3-5 days.
Treats urinary retention, frequent urination, and painful urination due to damp heat: 30g of the plant, 20g of the plant's cotton, 20g of the roots of the plant, 12g of the corn silk, 8g of the plant's betel, 12g of the plant's pennywort, boil with 650ml of water, reduce to 250ml, divide into 2 doses, drink before meals. Use for 10 days.
Support treatment of bone and joint pain: 5g dried coriander leaves, 5g mimosa root, 3g sea spinach, 3g scratchgrass root, 3g passionflower leaves, 3g piper lolot leaves. Chop all, dry, steep in water and drink instead of tea during the day. Use continuously for 1 month.
Support treatment of hemorrhoids: Boil 200g of Morinda root, drink 1 cup of medicine (equal to a cup of tea), use the remaining hot water to steam the anus, when the water is still warm, use it to wash, steam and wash 5-6 times a day.
Allergic urticaria: 30g of whole plant, 100g of lean pork, stew until done, eat pork and drink the medicine. Use for 7-10 days.
