Recycling dirty grease and oil residue to supply to restaurants

From a car violating traffic laws, Hai Phong police discovered a facility specializing in collecting and recycling dirty grease in Kien An district.

On September 7, Kien An District Police coordinated with Hai Phong City's interdisciplinary forces to administratively inspect the dirty fat processing facility of Ms. Nguyen Thi Lieu (56 years old), residing in Van Dau ward.

At the scene, authorities discovered and seized more than 6 tons of fat, including processed fat, pork rinds, and used cooking oil with a foul odor stored in plastic drums...

Ms. Lieu said that the facility has been operating for 5 years. Every day, Ms. Lieu and some employees collect used lard, fat and cooking oil from markets and restaurants in Hai Phong, at a price of 3,000 VND/kg, bring them back to recycle and sell them to neighboring provinces and cities at a price of 10,000 VND/kg. During the collection process, if anyone asks, Ms. Lieu tells everyone to say they buy it to make animal feed.

Previously, on the night of September 6, the Traffic Police Team of Kien An District Police was on duty on the road and discovered a truck driven by Vu Van Tra (40 years old).at Van Dau ward (Kien An) driving, transporting about 2 tons of dirty fat packed in 50 sacks.

Driver Tra confessed that he was hiring her to transport all that fat for Ms. Nguyen Thi Lieu. Based on this statement, the authorities proceeded to inspect Ms. Lieu's facility.

Authorities have closed the facility, confiscated all the dirty fat for destruction, and filed a case to handle the case according to legal regulations.
