Being intelligent, agile, and highly educated, during the Nghe Tinh Soviet revolutionary movement, Nguyen Thi Phuc was assigned the task of journalism, propaganda, and mass mobilization.

Nguyen Thi Phuc (1911 - 1941, alias: Phi, Phuoc), from Kim Cam village, Kim Nguyen commune (now Nghi Trung commune, Nghi Loc district). Born into a patriotic Confucian family, her father was Nguyen Duc Dong - commonly known as Han Thuyen, her mother was Cao Thi Tao, a hard-working, capable woman.

As a progressive Confucian scholar, Mr. Han Thuyen created conditions for his two daughters, Nguyen Thi Nha and Nguyen Thi Phuc, to study properly. As a child, she attended elementary school in her hometown. Here, she and her cousins, Nguyen Thi Xan and Nguyen Thi Thiu, often visited the house of the famous teacher Nguyen Thuc Tu (who had trained over 400 excellent students, including Phan Boi Chau, Nguyen Sinh Sac, etc.). When she grew up, she passed the exam and entered Cao Xuan Duc Primary School in Vinh Town. Here, she was fortunate to meet Ms. Nguyen Thi Vinh (Minh Khai).

Graduating from Cao Xuan Duc Primary School with excellent academic performance, she continued to pass the entrance exam and entered Dong Khanh Girls' School (Hue), a famous school in Indochina at that time. At that time, only a few girls could achieve such a high level of education. Normally, as an ordinary girl, Nguyen Thi Phuc would have followed the path of studying and passing the imperial examinations, to become rich and famous. But from 1926, the wind of the national liberation movement initiated by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc from China blew back, urging her to follow the sacred call of the Fatherland.

While studying at Thanh Chung High School in Hue, Phuc returned home for summer vacation. Nguyen Thi Minh Khai visited and enlightened him, letting him read the work "The Revolutionary Path" and other progressive books and newspapers. Fascinated by the light of revolution, she asked her parents to let her drop out of school to participate in national salvation activities.

At the end of 1926, Nguyen Thi Phuc followed her sister Nguyen Thi Minh Khai to Vinh to participate in revolutionary activities. She was introduced to young intellectuals and patriotic workers such as Tran Phu, Ha Huy Tap, Phan Dang Luu, Nguyen Sy Sach, Sieu Hai, Le Mao, Le Viet Thuat, and Tran Van Tang in the Hung Nam Association.

In 1927, the Hung Nam Association changed its name to the Tan Viet Party and stepped up propaganda work. Being intelligent, quick-witted, and highly educated, Nguyen Thi Phuc was assigned the task of journalism, propaganda, and mass mobilization. Completing her work well, she was quickly admitted to the Tan Viet Party. One of the people she enlightened and encouraged to participate in revolutionary activities was her two cousins, Nguyen Thi Xan and Nguyen Thi Thiu, who were admitted to the Tan Viet Party in March 1928. Later, they both became outstanding communist soldiers in the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement.

Thanks to the activities of Nguyen Thi Phuc, at the end of 1928, the Tan Viet Party cell was established in Ky Tran and Dong Chu areas. In many places in Nghe An such as Vinh, Hung Nguyen, Nghi Loc, etc., the movement developed rapidly.

In mid-1929, the Indochinese Communist Party was born. Under the leadership of comrade Nguyen Phong Sac, the revolutionary movement developed from spontaneous to conscious. Nguyen Thi Phuc was assigned to work in the Party's press and propaganda, participating in writing, printing, and distributing the newspapers Xich Sinh, Bolshevik, Cong Nong Binh, and Nguoi Lao Kho. Under the guidance of Ms. Minh Khai, Nguyen Thi Phuc quickly matured in revolutionary activities. After Ms. Minh Khai secretly went abroad to work, the experiences she passed on were of great help to Nguyen Thi Phuc.

In the spring of 1930, the Communist Party of Vietnam was born, Nguyen Thi Phuc became one of the first people in Nghe - Tinh to become a Party member.

On the occasion of the International Labor Day on May 1, 1930, the Party advocated hanging flags, distributing leaflets, and promoting with 24 slogans of struggle. Nguyen Thi Phuc worked day and night to print documents, newspapers, leaflets, and participate in mobilizing the Vinh - Ben Thuy masses.

After the demonstration on May 1, 1930, the Central Region Party Committee sent Nguyen Thi Phuc to work with the Nghi Loc District Party Committee to develop Party cells and mass organizations. Thanks to that, the An Hau, Duc Hau, Kim Khe, Van Trung, Co Dan, Song Loc, and Van Trinh cells were soon established. On that basis, on June 22, 1930, a major struggle of the Nghi Loc people was organized. Nguyen Thi Phuc, with her eloquence, stood up to speak before thousands of people and led the protest group to the district office to present demands to the district chief Ton That Hoan.

Next was a rally of thousands of farmers held at Con Vang (Nghi Truong) to support the struggle of workers in Vinh - Ben Thuy, Phu Rieng, Nam Dinh...

In July 1930, while campaigning for the masses, Nguyen Thi Phuc was arrested by the enemy and taken to Vinh prison. Despite being brutally tortured, she refused to confess anything. Therefore, due to lack of evidence, the enemy had to release her but still had secret agents secretly monitor her.

To ensure safety, the Central Region Party Committee transferred Nguyen Thi Phuc back to Vinh to take charge of the Party Committee's printing department along with Nguyen Lap, Nguyen Thi Thao, Chu Van Bien...

Fearing the influence of revolutionary newspapers, the French colonialists relentlessly pursued her and Nguyen Thi Phuc was arrested for the second time and taken to Vinh prison. Realizing the important role of Nguyen Thi Phuc in the Party's propaganda work, the Central Region Party Committee successfully arranged for her and Chu Van Bien to be released.

Just out of prison, Nguyen Thi Phuc immediately started working on propaganda, collecting news, and organizing newspaper printing. Therefore, the Party's voice continuously reached the revolutionary masses, contributing to promoting the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement to its peak on September 12, 1930.

Faced with that situation, the French colonialists carried out a white terror to destroy the revolutionary movement of the masses, and closely hunted down communist soldiers. The printing facility of the Regional Party Committee had to move continuously, temporarily moving to the surrounding area. Once, the printing facility located at Mr. Dinh Ho's house (Yen Luu, Hung Hoa) was exposed, the secret police closely surrounded and arrested them, but thanks to Mr. Dinh Ho's intelligence and bravery, Nguyen Thi Phuc and Chu Van Bien escaped, Mr. Dinh Ho and Nguyen Thi Thao were arrested and taken to Vinh prison. In 1931, Nguyen Thi Phuc was arrested for the third time.

Her prison record, created by the French colonialists, stated:
“… Was a printing staff of the Central Region Party Committee, arrested by the Kim Nguyen village gang in Tan Hop, Nghi Loc district. Sentenced by the Nghe An Provincial Court to 7 years of hard labor and 3 years of house arrest under judgment number 44 dated January 9, 1932, imprisoned at Vinh prison…
April 1932, during this time propaganda activities in Vinh prison…
In May 1932, the sentence was changed to 5 years of hard labor and 2 years and 6 months of house arrest according to Decision No. 693 dated May 14, 1932 of the Privy Council...
Tet 1934 was reduced by 1 year...
Released on February 13, 1934. After being released and returning to his hometown, he continued his revolutionary activities...
July 1939 arrested again...
July 12, 1939 was brought under local house arrest...
On March 13, 1941, he was arrested for the fourth time by the Ha Tinh provincial secret police for continuing communist activities. He was sentenced to 4 years in prison and 4 years of house arrest by the Nam Trieu court of Nghe An province according to verdict number 50 dated July 24, 1941...
Died on November 3, 1941 at Ha Tinh hospital.

In the colonial prison, Nguyen Thi Phuc was always a steadfast fighter, a center of solidarity, and a spiritual support for her fellow prisoners. Thanks to her diplomatic talent and good French, she was able to propagate, mobilize, and influence some of the Foreign Legion guards to create favorable conditions for the struggle in the prison. Therefore, she was elected Secretary of the prison Party cell.

In prison, she used her poetic talent as an effective weapon of struggle. Many of her poems contributed to promoting the struggle movement of fellow prisoners, such as: Team Three, Sending to Trinh's Kitchen, Thang linh Gian, Thang linh Phap... These works were collected and printed in the book Soviet Poetry and Literature of Nghe Tinh.

During her youth, she devoted herself to the revolution. When her health and beauty were exhausted due to the enemy's torture, she decided to become the life partner of a comrade on the path of struggle, that was Dinh Xuan Dai, from My Hoa hamlet, Son Hoa commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province. When she was captured by the enemy for the fourth time, she was pregnant with her first child. In prison, with the care of her fellow prisoners, she gave birth to a baby boy named Dinh Nho Loc, a blessing that life had bestowed upon her and her husband. After being brutally tortured, knowing that she could not live, she had to send a message to her husband's family to come to the prison to take care of the baby.

After taking her child out of prison, her health gradually deteriorated and she heroically sacrificed herself at Ha Tinh Prison on November 3, 1941. To avoid the anger of the people of Nghe Tinh, the French colonialists announced that she had died at Ha Tinh Hospital.

The life of Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuc is a life of brave and resilient revolutionary activities, sacrificing everything for the Fatherland and the people. She is a shining example of Nghe Tinh women in the revolutionary cause of the nation, the pride of Vietnamese women, of journalists and poets of the Lam Hong land.
