Traffic accidents increased on the 4th day of Tet, killing 34 people

Regarding the traffic order and safety situation on February 13 (the 4th day of Tet), the National Traffic Safety Committee said that there were 95 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 34 people and injuring 87 people. Compared to February 12 (the 3rd day of Tet), there were 35 more accidents, 7 more deaths, and 20 more injuries.

Of which, 93 traffic accidents occurred on roads, killing 31 people and injuring 87 people; 1 traffic accident occurred on railways, killing 2 people; 1 accident occurred on waterways, killing 1 person; no accidents occurred on airways or seaways.

Through patrol and control work, the forceTraffic police, Police units and localities handled 13,246 cases on the road, including 6,178 cases of alcohol concentration violations, 3,240 cases of speed violations, 17 cases of drug testing; fined 33.38 billion VND; temporarily detained 225 cars, nearly 6,900 motorbikes; revoked 3,266 driving licenses of all kinds. Railways did not detect any violations. Waterways detected and handled 1 violation, fined 8 million VND.

On the 6th day of the Lunar New Year holiday, the National Traffic Safety Committee received 5 calls and messages from people to the hotline. The calls were forwarded to the relevant authorities for inspection and handling.

According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, on the morning of February 13, the routes leading to the inner city of Hanoi, train stations, bus stations, and some bus transfer points saw a significant increase in the number of people, mostly students and workers returning to the capital after the Tet holiday. Hanoi's traffic situation was quite favorable, with a large number of vehicles, but no serious congestion occurred.

At dawn on February 13, on the road in front of the gate of Industrial University Campus 3 (in Phu Van Ward, Phu Ly City, Ha Nam Province), a traffic accident occurred between two motorbikes, killing two motorcyclists on the spot. Traffic police and Phu Ly City Police, along with relevant agencies, examined the scene and investigated the cause.

The leader of Vietnam Expressway Engineering Services Joint Stock Company (VECE) said that on the 4th day of Tet, traffic on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway from Km3 - Km12, from An Phu intersection to the elevated road through the old District 9 area extending to Long Phuoc toll station, the traffic volume was quite heavy. Meanwhile, in the opposite direction from Dau Giay, Long Thanh, Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City, traffic was still stable, no congestion occurred.

Many people continue to travel for Spring, causing traffic jams and congestion on some national highways, expressways, and places with shopping centers, tourist attractions, and Spring festival venues.
