Tragic accident on Thai Nguyen highway: Driver lost control of speed

Regarding the serious accident in which a car crashed into the back of a truck, killing three Koreans on the Hanoi-Thai Nguyen highway early this morning (August 8), Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc - Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee directed relevant agencies to urgently resolve and overcome the consequences of the accident.

At around 10:30 this morning, Thai Nguyen province authorities completed their investigation of the scene. The initial cause was determined to be that the Innova driver could not control his speed and crashed into the back of the truck.

Immediately after receiving information about the accident, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent his condolences to the families of the deceased victims and assigned the Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee Khuat Viet Hung and the working delegation of the National Traffic Safety Committee, along with representatives of the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security), Road Management Department I (Vietnam Road Administration), and Road Management Company 238 to the scene to coordinate with the People's Committee and the Traffic Safety Committee of Thai Nguyen province to direct relevant agencies to promptly resolve and overcome the consequences of the accident.


The Deputy Prime Minister requested the leaders of Thai Nguyen province to continue directing the relevant agencies to urgently conduct investigation, verification and announce the cause of the accident as soon as possible.

In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister directed the Thai Nguyen Department of Foreign Affairs to proactively provide accurate, complete, timely and legally compliant information about the incident to representatives of the Korean diplomatic agency in Vietnam, creating the most favorable conditions for the victims' families and agencies to access and carry out funeral procedures for the victims in a solemn manner and in accordance with the cultural traditions of the host country.

On the Thai Nguyen province side, immediately after receiving information about the accident, at around 3:30 a.m., Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee Duong Ngoc Long directed the Provincial Police, Department of Transport, Department of Health, and Thai Nguyen City People's Committee to urgently approach and coordinate with the patrol and control forces of the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) and Road Management Company 238 to protect the scene, organize to ensure traffic order and safety, and carry out investigation and examination.

At the same time, the Provincial Chairman requested the leaders of the Provincial Department of Foreign Affairs to be present, coordinate with the police agency to invite the leaders of WillTech VINA Limited Liability Company to directly go to the scene to witness the investigation of the scene of the incident.

At the scene, leaders of the National Traffic Safety Committee and Thai Nguyen province directed the forensic agency to examine the scene under the witness of the Provincial People's Procuracy, representatives of WillTech VINA Limited Liability Company and local authorities.

At around 10:30 a.m., Thai Nguyen province authorities completed their investigation of the scene. The initial cause was determined to be that the Innova driver could not control his speed and crashed into the back of the truck.

Currently, Thai Nguyen provincial authorities have brought the victims' bodies to Thai Nguyen Provincial General Hospital and continue the professional investigation to soon have an official conclusion on the incident.

Previously, at around 3 a.m. on August 8, on the Hanoi-Thai Nguyen highway, an extremely serious accident occurred between a car and a truck, killing 3 people on the spot.

Specifically, at the above time, a 7-seat Toyota Innova with license plate 99A080.65 was traveling on the Hanoi-Thai Nguyen highway. At Km 59+900, the car suddenly crashed straight into the back of a 7-ton truck with license plate 20C-066.92.

The strong impact caused the car to fly to the side of the road and spin sideways. At the time of the accident, there were 3 people in the Innova, all 3 of whom died on the spot. After the collision, the truck fell over and blocked the road, the truck driver luckily survived with only minor injuries.

The identities of the three victims were determined to be Korean nationals and currently working at Que Vo Industrial Park, Bac Ninh./.
