Bus accident in Uganda, more than 30 people died

The bus lost control but trying to avoid a curve in the road, overturned and caught fire.

On September 18, about 30 people were said to have been killed and more than a dozen others injured in a serious bus accident in an area in central Uganda.

Local media reported that the incident occurred when the bus was traveling from Kisoro district to the capital Kampala when it suddenly overturned and caught fire. Through preliminary investigation, police said that the accident occurred when the driver lost control while trying to avoid a curve in the road.

All the victims have been taken to a nearby hospital. There are no official reports of casualties, but police estimate that around 30 people have died and more than a dozen others are seriously injured.

Nearly 2,500 people die in road accidents in Uganda every year. The cause is said to be the poor quality of vehicles and roads that do not meet safety standards./.
