Bus accident in Nepal, 29 people died
AFP news agency quoted Nepal police today (January 12) saying that 29 people were killed after a bus overturned while driving on a gravel road around the mountain.

The accident occurred near Chhatiwan village in western Doti district. The bus was travelling from Dhangadhi city to Achham in dense fog and rolled down a slope about 600 metres off the road at around 2am this morning.
AFP reported that in addition to the 29 people killed, 12 other passengers were seriously injured in the accident. Meanwhile, Xinhua reported that the death toll was 30, including 22 men, 7 women and a baby.
Rescue work is currently underway. Local people were also present at the scene to help the police pull the victim's body up.
According to the BBC, road accidents occur frequently in Nepal due to overloaded buses and poor quality mountain roads that are not maintained.
