From June to December 2010, Mr. Chanh held the position of Deputy Secretary of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee. From December 2010 to October 2015, Mr. Chanh held the position of Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee.

At this time, after Mr. Huynh Minh Chac resigned from the position of Provincial Party Secretary before his term, Mr. Chanh was approved by the Politburo to hold the position of Provincial Party Secretary.

At the 13th Congress of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee for the 2015-2020 term, held in October 2015, Mr. Tran Cong Chanh was re-elected as Secretary of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee and has held this position until now.
