Temporarily suspend duty-free sales on planes
The General Department of Customs has just sent a document to the Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch regarding the temporary suspension of duty-free sales on airplanes of Noi Bai Airport Services Joint Stock Company (NASCO).
Specifically, the Hanoi Customs Department has received a document from NASCO requesting to temporarily suspend duty-free sales on airplanes for a period of 6 months, starting from September 1.
Hanoi Customs Department has requested to inspect and confirm the quantity of goods in stock at NASCO Company's duty-free shops and in-flight duty-free warehouses according to regulations.
"During the temporary suspension of duty-free business activities, the Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch is responsible for monitoring the inventory at duty-free shops and duty-free warehouses according to regulations of the Government and the customs sector," the document stated.

In case NASCO Company re-exports the remaining goods at the duty-free shop or the duty-free warehouse on the plane, the customs procedures shall be carried out in accordance with Decree 167 of the Government and settlement shall be carried out.
Previously, NASCO has been trading duty-free goods on airplanes since January 1, 2016. These items are strictly controlled by information that is highly connected to specialized customs units.
Duty-free goods sold on planes include fashion, beauty products, watches, travel products, and alcohol products... all have codes, are tax-free, and are strictly controlled.
The predecessor of Noi Bai Airport Services Joint Stock Company was a subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines Corporation, established in 1993. The company was equitized in 2006.
NASCO's main business activities are restaurant and lounge services, car transportation (Airport bus and Airport taxi), selling souvenirs and duty-free goods at Noi Bai airport. The company currently owns the Airport Taxi and Airport Bus brands, operating mainly in the Noi Bai area.
Currently, NASCO is the only enterprise at Noi Bai airport that provides business class lounge services with design and interiors meeting 4-star standards or higher. In 2016, NASCO had revenue of VND520.7 billion and after-tax profit of VND29.2 billion.
