The Ministry of Education and Training said that this policy has been agreed with the Ministry of Health. Accordingly, the two ministries will review and evaluate the system of medical human resource training facilities nationwide in terms of teaching staff and facilities serving the training of medical human resources.
If necessary, to meet the human resource needs of some localities and regions, the Ministry of Education and Training shall coordinate with the Ministry of Health to review the actual human resource needs and assess the necessary conditions to ensure training quality before deciding to open majors at non-medical and pharmaceutical universities.
The enrollment quota for medical human resource training is determined based on the converted number of permanent lecturers of each industry and the prescribed conditions to ensure quality. Training facilities are not allowed to enroll more students than the determined quota.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the temporary suspension of opening new majors aims to implement the policy of fundamental and comprehensive innovation of university education in the field of health sciences, improving the quality of medical staff serving people's health.
Previously, many medical experts and leaders of medical and pharmaceutical training schools warned the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Health about the situation of multidisciplinary universities and colleges opening medical training courses while not having adequate facilities and human resources. Accordingly, the experts recommended that the two ministries take corrective measures to ensure the quality of human resources in this special industry.
