16 people detained for slashing people and causing chaos on National Highway

On February 20, news from the Investigation Police Agency of Thoai Son District, An Giang Province said that they had prosecuted and temporarily detained 16 subjects related to the case of a group of people in Binh Duong being arrested on National Highway 91 to continue investigating and clarifying the behavior of "Disturbing public order”.

According to the investigation results, at around 10:00 a.m. on December 4, 2020, Chung Minh Chien (born in 1988; residing in Thoai Son district) rented a 16-seat car for Bui Quoc Quan (born in 1989; residing in Tan Uyen town, Binh Duong province) to drive him and a group of 10 friends to Chien's house in Nui Sap town, Thoai Son district to play and attend the wedding of a friend named Vo Van Cuong.

4 out of 16 subjects were temporarily detained by Thoai Son District Police (An Giang).

Around 11am the next morning, Chien's group attended Cuong's wedding and continued drinking with Nguyen Van Thien's group (aka Cu Ba Tet, born in 1993; residing in Nui Sap town). At around 2:30pm the same day, after attending the wedding, Chien's group returned to Chien's house to continue drinking.

During this time, Thien's group of about 6 people used motorbikes to go sing karaoke. On the way, the group met Tran Hoang Tan (born in 1986; Nui Sap town) driving in the opposite direction and using provocative words towards Thien's group, so the two sides had a conflict but were stopped by everyone.

After that, Tan ran back to his girlfriend's boarding house, while Thien's group drove to Tri's (Ho Quoc Ha) house to meet Quach Van Linh (alias Linh Ve, born in 1997). Here, Thien called Le Thanh Nha (alias Tun, born in 1996) and Le Tuan Con (born in 1997) to bring the weapons and call Chien's group to prepare to fight Tan.

At the same time, Tan also contacted the following subjects: Tran Minh Triet (alias Teo Viet My or Teo Ba Nang, born in 1984), Nguyen Ngoc Thach (born in 2001), Phan Xuan Tuong (born in 1995), Ly Sach (born in 1986), Nguyen Ngoc Cu (alias Thanh Meo), Trinh Van Nhi (alias Ba Chop, born in 1995), Nguyen Van Tuan (alias Tuan Ngheo, born in 1990) to gather into a group. Immediately after that, Nguyen Ngoc Cu went to the house of Tran Trong Quyen (alias Ut Quyen) to get the bag of weapons that had been sent earlier to prepare to fight with Thien's group.

About 10 minutes after Thien called, Quan drove a 16-seat car to take Chien's group back to Tri's house, then Chien's group and Thien's group combined to drive back to Tan's motel.

Here, the group called Tan out to talk but Tan did not come out so he went back. After walking about 50 meters, Triet's group who were sitting in a nearby coffee shop ran out. At this time, Thach and Tuong held guns while the rest held homemade knives and chased and slashed Thien's group. Thien's group ran to the place where they had previously stored the homemade knives and turned back to slash with Triet's group.

While fleeing, Triet was slashed and injured (30%), Tan was slashed and injured (9%) and was taken to the emergency room. Thien's group quickly took the weapons and escaped. Chien's group got into a 16-seat car driven by Quan and headed back to Binh Duong province.

When they reached Highway 91 in My Thoi Ward, Long Xuyen City, they were chased by a group of 9 young men on 5 motorbikes carrying many weapons, blocking and smashing the car windows. This group also used weapons to stab and slash Quan, Chien, Si, Hai (Queo) and Tri, who were injured and taken to Hanh Phuc Hospital to have their wounds bandaged.

Initially, it was determined that Ly Sach (belonging to Tan's group) had called Huynh Van Teo's group (alias Teo 72 moles, born in 1983; residing in My Long ward, Long Xuyen city) to ask them to attack the group in the 16-seat car, so Long Xuyen city police coordinated with the 113 police force to invite the subjects to the headquarters to work and notify Thoai Son district police to coordinate the investigation./.
