Two sisters detained for leading a surrogacy ring with a price of 1.5 billion VND/time
Two sisters, Tran Thi Bich Thuan and Tran Thi Bich Van, connected and organized surrogacy brokerage with prices ranging from 800 million VND/single pregnancy and 1.5 billion VND/twin pregnancy.

On the afternoon of November 12, speaking with reporters, a leader of Dong Da District Police (Hanoi) said that they had initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Tran Thi Bich Thuan (born in 1976, in Phuong Lien Ward, Dong Da District) and Tran Thi Bich Van (born in 1983, in Trung Phung Ward, Dong Da District) for the act ofcommercial surrogacy.
The police also determined that Tran Thi Bich Van had a previous conviction for "Organizing surrogacy for commercial purposes".
Previously, Dong Da District Police coordinated with Phuong Lien Ward Police to inspect a house in lane 70 Kim Hoa, Phuong Lien Ward, and discovered Tran Thi Bich Thuan and several pregnant women with suspicious signs.
Invited to the police station, the pregnant woman named M. (from Ca Mau) explained that through social networks, she knew Thuan was a broker in surrogacy.
Because she wanted to earn money from surrogacy, Ms. M. contacted Thuan and went to the house on Kim Hoa street.
Here, Thuan offered to pay her 280 million VND per surrogacy. This amount would be divided into several installments according to the stage of development of the fetus.
Ms. M. also confessed that she was a surrogate mother for Mr. T. and his wife (from Nghe An). On April 11, Thuan took her to the hospital for a successful embryo implantation. At this stage, she received 50 million VND.
The police worked with Mr. T. and his wife. Both Mr. T. and his wife explained that because they were old and unable to get pregnant, they wanted to have another child, so they contacted Tran Thi Bich Van, who could find a surrogate mother.
At that time, Van guided Mr. T. and his wife to the hospital to create and store the embryos. All documents and procedures for storing the embryos were handed over to Van. The total cost was 800 million VND. This amount was divided into several installments and transferred to Van via bank account.
By the time of discovery, Mr. and Mrs. T. had transferred 500 million VND to Van.
Continuing to expand the investigation, Dong Da District Police invited Mr. D. and his wife (in Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi) related to the case.
Mr. D. said that he and his wife had agreed with Van to find a surrogate mother for 1 billion VND for a single pregnancy and 1.5 billion VND for a twin pregnancy. Mr. D. transferred 200 million VND to Van to carry out embryo implantation for the woman who would be the surrogate mother.
At the police station, Tran Thi Bich Van and Tran Thi Bich Thuan were evasive, denied their crimes, and were uncooperative. However, with the evidence collected, the police determined that Bich Van and Bich Thuan had organized surrogacy for commercial purposes.
