A shining example of studious spirit
(Baonghean)Comrade Le Hong Phong - an outstanding son of Nghe An and the country, left a shining example of the spirit of studying hard. Although his life was active in many different environments and circumstances, comrade Le Hong Phong never separated himself from studying and improving his qualifications to meet all the heavy tasks assigned by the international revolution as well as the Vietnamese revolution.
Since childhood, Le Huy Doan (real name of comrade Le Hong Phong) has absorbed the spirit of learning from his father - Mr. Cuu Soan - the familiar name of Mr. Le Duy Quan, an educated person but not successful in the imperial examinations. Passionate about books and literature, Le Huy Doan had only just finished elementary school when his father passed away. Not willing to accept the difficult family situation, the poor boy left his hometown to work for hire in factories in Vinh and went to Ben Thuy Match Factory to find an opportunity to study. During this time, the young man witnessed with his own eyes the life of exploitation and unjust oppression caused by colonialists and feudalists. Unable to bear the unjust exploitation of the owners, Le Huy Doan and his dedicated people mobilized workers to rise up and fight.
In January 1924, Le Huy Doan and Pham Thanh Khoi, with new names Le Hong Phong and Pham Hong Thai, decided to cross Truong Son to Dang Thuc Hua's Cay Camp in Thailand to continue their path of saving the people and the country. In April 1924, Le Hong Phong went to Guangzhou (China) and was admitted to the Tam Tam Xa organization. At the end of 1924, comrade Nguyen Ai Quoc came to Guangzhou to open a political training class. Le Hong Phong became one of Nguyen Ai Quoc's first students and was taught the Marxist-Leninist doctrine by him, enlightening him on the path of proletarian revolution. Early on, Le Hong Phong showed his intelligence, steadfast character and sharp political vision and was trusted by the organization and introduced to attend the Whampoa Military School for a 16-month course. At the end of 1925, Le Hong Phong was transferred to continue his studies at the Aviation School in Guangzhou. Here, on February 10, 1926, he was admitted to the Communist Party of China.
Due to his excellent academic performance, in October 1926, he was sent by the Guangzhou Government and Nguyen Ai Quoc to the Soviet Union to study and graduated from the Leningrad Air Force Military Theory School in December 1927. He then entered the Borisglevsk Military Pilot Training School. In October 1928, he attended and graduated from the 3-year course (1928-1931) of the Communist Labor University of the East. Here, he became a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and participated in the Organizing Committee of the Indochina Group Party. After graduating from the Communist University of the East, while in his first year of graduate study, he was sent back to the country to participate in the work of the Party Central Committee.
Thus, after continuously attending political and military schools from Guangzhou to Moscow, comrade Le Hong Phong gradually practiced, learned, self-trained and trained to equip himself with a system of Marxist-Leninist political theory knowledge and a system of knowledge and understanding of revolutionary military science, both in formal schools and in informal training courses. Not only studying at school, in classes, in training courses, Le Hong Phong also actively studied and researched to equip himself with language, knowledge, and life experience to be able to camouflage and deceive the enemy in extremely difficult environments and operating circumstances. Comrade Le Hong Phong is good at Chinese, Russian, Thai and has a certain amount of French. With intelligence, love of learning, strong political will and excellent leadership ability, comrade Le Hong Phong became an outstanding revolutionary with high education of our Party, capable of grasping and solving theoretical and practical revolutionary issues for the Vietnamese revolution.
