The first SEA Games 27 gold medal has been awarded.

The first gold medal winner of the 27th SEA Games was the host Myanmar in the rather unusual sport of Chinlone. This was the first time this sport was included in such a major sporting event.

The first SEA Games 27 gold medal was awarded to Myanmar's Chinlone category.

Five countries have registered to compete in Chinlone, namely Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Malaysia and Singapore, competing in eight different events. The competition kicked off on the morning of December 4 in the capital Nay Pyi Taw.

Chinlone is considered a strong sport in Myanmar, so it was not surprising that the home team defeated their opponent Thailand with a score of 535/357 to win the first gold medal at the 27th SEA Games.

Chinlone is a popular game across Myanmar with a long tradition dating back some 1,500 years. Chinlone will be featured for the first time at a SEA Games in Myanmar this December. So far, it has been a healthy game without any competition.

If you watch chinlone at a high level, you will see that it is a difficult sport. Chinlone at this level is almost like dancing with the shuttlecock to the music. Chinlone requires unity, concentration and perfect technique from the players.
