(Baonghean.vn) - The medical profession is already full of hardships and difficulties. For female doctors and nurses at the Mental Hospital, the pressure is even greater. In the midst of difficulties, these "angels" in white with their "motherly" hearts always strive to heal and soothe the wounds in the patients' souls.
Nghe An Mental Hospital currently has 210 staff, doctors and nurses, of which over 80% are female. The task of female doctors and nurses here is to treat, care for and manage patients. This job is difficult and arduous when the patients are mentally and spiritually damaged, such as behavioral, emotional and thinking disorders. Photo: Dinh TuyenTo do a good job of treating patients, female doctors and nurses at the hospital always consider patients as their family members. Every day, they listen to the patients' sharing and mental obsessions... to sympathize, understand, share and have appropriate therapies to reassure, soothe, regulate emotions and treat them. She shared: Taking care of a normal patient is already tiring, but taking care of a patient with a mental illness is even more difficult. In the hospital, there are many cases of seriously ill patients with behaviors of self-harm or suicide attempts. To treat these patients, doctors and nurses must always be close by, not taking their eyes off them to promptly prevent and treat them. Photo: Dinh TuyenMany patients, when admitted to the hospital, are no longer able to take care of themselves. Every day, in addition to treatment, female doctors and nurses at the hospital also have to play the role of "nanny" to help patients with personal hygiene and eating and drinking. Photo: Dinh TuyenIn the process of caring for, treating and managing patients, female doctors and nurses often have to deal with special patients. The wounds in their souls have caused these patients to become aggressive and attack others, including medical staff. Photo: Dinh TuyenNurse Nguyen Thi Hong Thuong shared: In the hospital, it is normal for agitated patients to attack medical staff. Recently, another nurse was bitten by a patient while providing care; before that, a staff member was attacked by a patient with a sharp object, causing injury... We do not blame them, because this is caused by illness. Photo: Dinh TuyenThe danger does not stop at being assaulted, female doctors and nurses are very susceptible to occupational diseases with psychological effects on patients. Every day, forced to integrate and work in an "abnormal" world; if they cannot balance their emotions, female doctors and nurses will bring the "abnormal" world into their daily lives and family lives. Photo: Dinh TuyenFemale doctors and nurses at the hospital shared: It is very sad that in recent years, the hospital has had to receive and treat many young patients. The children are addicted to illegal substances, addicted to games, abused... leading to great mental trauma. Photo: Dinh TuyenIn the midst of hardships, difficulties and undefined emotions, the female doctors and nurses at Nghe An Mental Hospital are always patient and try their best to bring their motherly hearts to heal the mental wounds of the patients. The love and smiles of the doctors here are the sedatives to comfort and help the patients return to normal life soon. Photo: Dinh TuyenNot only are the female doctors and nurses of Nghe An Mental Hospital good at treating, caring for, and managing patients, they are also very charming on stage with dances and folk dances. On the occasion of Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20), I would like to wish the "angels" in white good health, happiness... and continue to contribute more to the cause of saving people.
