Knife attack at Guangzhou train station, many injured

At least nine people were injured in a knife attack on the morning of March 6 at a railway station in Guangzhou, southern China, Xinhua News Agency reported.

According to a notice posted on the official website of the Guangzhou City Police Department, the incident occurred at around 8:18 a.m. (local time, or 9:18 a.m. Vietnam time) when several people armed with knives stabbed and slashed people at the above station.

Police later shot dead one suspect and arrested another.

The incident is under investigation and there is currently no information about the identity of the attackers or their motive.

This is the latest knife attack to occur in China. Last March, a bloody knife attack occurred at a railway station in the southwestern city of Kunming, leaving 29 people dead and about 140 injured./.
