Sousse is one of Tunisia's most popular beach resorts, attracting tourists from Europe and neighboring North African countries.
Tunisia was shaken in March when Islamist gunmen opened fire at the Bardo Museum in Tunis, killing a group of foreign tourists. It was one of the worst attacks in the country in a decade.
