Terrorist attack in Belgium, suspect killed
A suspect has been killed at Brussels central station following a failed bomb attempt that Belgian authorities have identified as a terrorist attack.
A "small explosion" occurred at the transit center at around 8:30 p.m. on June 20 (local time), CNN quoted Belgian Prosecutor's Office spokesman Eric Van Der Sypt at a press conference the same day.
“The suspect has been subdued,” Mr Van Der Sypt said. He later confirmed the man was dead but declined to identify him.

No one else was injured in the attack, however, chaos ensued at the Central Station, one of the main stations in the capital Brussels.
The Belgian Foreign Ministry said there was no indication of further attacks but maintained alert level 3 to warn of potential threats.
Brussels Central Station has been evacuated and closed along with two other stations in the Belgian capital. Armed patrols, including two bomb squads, have been combing the area.

Witness Sandor Moors was waiting on the platform below when he heard explosions and someone shouting "Allahu Akbar" (God is great) followed by gunshots.
"There was an announcement asking everyone to leave the station. Army soldiers with heavy guns came looking for someone," Moors recounted.
After the gunshots rang out, he ran upstairs to hide. During that time, he saw a man with three bullet wounds on his body.
"I don't know if he's going to survive. He looked like he was going to die," Moors said.
Remy Bonnaffe, another witness, also said that he was in the station when an explosion was heard, followed by a fire.
"The explosion was huge, like fireworks going off in front of me. The fire was very small. It seemed like a small explosion but it made a big noise," Bonnaffe said.
The incident comes more than a year after a series of suicide bombings at Brussels airport and a nearby metro station killed 31 people and injured hundreds more.
