New US Ambassador Ted Osius sends greetings to the Vietnamese people

Mr. Ted Osius hopes to promote comprehensive partnership by enhancing student exchange programs and promoting cooperation in health and environment.

On December 1, the new US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius posted a video on Youtube introducing himself. What is special is that in this video, Mr. Ted Osius demonstrates his ability to speak Vietnamese fluently.

It can be said that the new US Ambassador had a quite impressive "debut" when opening the video, Mr. Ted Osius said: "Hello everyone. I am Ted Osius. President Obama's decision to appoint me as the new US Ambassador to Vietnam has made my dream come true."

Mr. Ted Osius added that in 1996, he was honored to come to Vietnam to help the first US Ambassador Pete Peterson to lay the foundation for the relationship between the two countries.

Mr. Ted Osius shared that he has visited many places in Vietnam, he also cycled across Vietnam through many famous landscapes such as Hue, Da Nang, Hoi An and Nha Trang. Mr. Ted Osius really hopes to cycle across Vietnam again and meet his Vietnamese friends again.

He reiterated the words of US Secretary of State John Kerry that a strong, prosperous, independent and human rights-respecting Vietnam “has been, is and will be an indispensable companion of the United States”.

“We will soon celebrate the 20th anniversary of US-Vietnam relations. I look forward to advancing our comprehensive partnership by enhancing student exchange programs, enhancing cooperation in health care, and protecting the environment,” said Ted Osius.

In this video, new US Ambassador Ted Osius also said that he is from Maryland and his partner is from Michigan./.
