New Miss Vietnam - Dang Thu Thao
The first beauty from the Southwest region to win the Miss Vietnam crown had a short meeting with the press and shared her happiness at the coronation.
- How did the new Miss feel at the moment of coronation?
I feel surprised and happy. Until this moment, when I touched the prestigious crown, I still can't believe it's true. I want to thank everyone, especially my parents and relatives who have always encouraged and supported me throughout the journey of the competition."
Touching the crown, the new Miss still couldn't believe that her dream had come true.
Today, the contestants, like the two first runner-up - Duong Tu Anh and second runner-up - Hoang Anh, all have their parents by their side, why don't we see Miss Thu Thao's parents?
My hometown is in Bac Lieu, far from Da Nang. My parents are sick so they cannot be with me at this moment. But my parents and relatives always follow and support me. Every day, my parents still call to encourage their daughter. Thanks to that, I always have confidence throughout the journey to compete.
So is anyone going with Thao to Da Nang to take the exam?
I came here to compete with Mr. Dang Hung. He was the one who discovered and supported me in the Miss Vietnam contest after I was crowned Miss Mekong Delta. He supported me with almost everything from my costume to my makeup and hair when I competed.
The contestant's costumes are almost always supported by the beauty queen's teacher.
So between you and the teacher you mentioned is there a contract like a manager and a beauty?
Whether there is a contract or not, I will never forget the gratitude to you, the person who worried and enthusiastically supported me like a brother in the family. As a small token of my gratitude, I would like to take a part of the bonus to pay you a part of the material expenses that you spent to support me in the exam. As for the spirit, it is immeasurable.
It is known that Thao also went alone from Bac Lieu to Can Tho to study, which was not easy?
Yes, because of difficult circumstances, I decided to go to Can Tho and worked as a bartender in a coffee shop. Thanks to this job, I had money to save for my studies. At first, my mother did not allow it, but I was determined and affirmed myself to make my parents feel secure and confident that their daughter would not fall into a bad situation when she was alone and had to leave her country to study early.
Due to difficult family circumstances, Thu Thao spent many days working hard to be able to pay for her own education.
What remains in Thao after the days of competing in the Miss Vietnam finals in Da Nang?
That is Da Nang city is beautiful not only in nature but also in the friendly and sincere personality of the people here. And the feelings, the beautiful memories between the contestants who participated in the Miss contest. Outsiders still think that we are contestants, so it is understandable that we compete with our opponents. But in reality, under the same roof in Da Nang, we are no different from sisters in the same family. After the contest, I have many more friends. I will miss everyone very much.
What remains after the days in Da Nang to take the exam is the close bond between the contestants.
What other plans does Thao have for the Miss Award?
Regarding the material prize, I will donate 40% of the prize money to charity, not just one place, but I will divide it equally to many places such as my hometown Bac Lieu, Can Tho City - where I am living and studying.
With the Miss crown, before and now when I have been awarded the Miss Vietnam crown, I always keep my parents' teachings as a guiding principle, that knowing how to love and study is the key to becoming a good person. I will follow that guiding principle to improve myself to be worthy of the title of Miss Vietnam.
