Currently, Tien Ky commune has 3 dams at high risk of landslides: Thai Minh dam (village 4), Thung Met dam and Ke Gieng dam. These dams have 2 tasks: to retain water and at the same time act as main traffic routes for local people. Therefore, during the rainy season, these routes are often flooded when there is heavy rain, and people are isolated. At Khe Than spillway, almost every year it is swept away by floods, and for many days in a row, people cannot pass through. Being present at Khe Than at this time, we witnessed the traces of concrete slabs several square meters wide being swept away by water about 5 - 10 meters from the spillway. The two ends of the spillway are hundreds of meters long, although they have been reinforced with stone gabions, the risk of breaking when there is heavy rain is very high. Khe Than spillway is located on the main road to Tien Ky commune. The State has had a project to build a road and a bridge over the spillway for many years, but it has not been implemented yet. Every time the rainy season comes, people are cut off by the water for many days.

According to the report of the District Agriculture Department, currently in Tan Ky area, there are 2 irrigation works under construction, namely Bai Quyen dam (Nghia Phuc) and Dong Dang dam (Nghia Hanh). The construction units have completed the water channel, dam body and spillway, and are still constructing the water culvert and some other small items. Although it has been raining at this time, affecting the construction progress, the district regularly checks and urges the construction units to complete the works before the 2014 flood season.

In addition, in the district, there are still a number of irrigation works that need to have a "4 on-site" plan, such as Cua dam (Huong Son commune), Tran dam (Nghia Binh commune), 271 dam (Ky Tan commune), Cay Da dam (Tan Huong commune... built decades ago, the dam body has not been upgraded, very easy to break when the water level in the dam rises. The district People's Committee directed relevant departments, especially Tan Ky Irrigation Company Limited, to coordinate with communes with works managed by the company to develop specific flood and storm prevention plans for each work. In addition, send technical staff with the District Flood and Storm Prevention and Control Command Board to inspect areas with critical works, such as Nghia Dong, Nghia Dung, Tan Xuan, Nghia Phuc, Dong Van. At Truong Tho dam, Nghia Dung commune, it is necessary to have a proactive plan to evacuate people downstream, because the water reserve is quite large, the dam body is weak...

In a locality with many dams, spillways and irrigation works, during the annual rainy and stormy season, many works are damaged, directly affecting people's lives.
