Tan Ky: Safely detonating the bomb
(Baonghean.vn) - Today, March 5, the Tan Ky District Military Command (Nghe An) coordinated with the engineering force of the Nghe An Provincial Military Command to organize the dismantling and transportation of a bomb lying underground in Hamlet 1A, Nghia Hop Commune, Tan Ky District (as reported in the morning news) and safely detonated it.
This bomb was discovered by Mr. Vo Duy Bang's family in hamlet 1A, Nghia Hop commune, Tan Ky district while they were digging the ground to build a house. The bomb was located more than 5m deep, on one side of the embankment of Tan Ky - Chau Thon road (in the Pha Sen area). Local people said that Pha Sen was a key area of fierce bombing by the US imperialists during the period 1968-1972.
Remove the bomb from the ground.
Transport to the blast site.
Use external explosives to detonate the bomb.
After inspection, the specialized forces of the Provincial Military Command and Tan Ky Military Command were able to lift the bomb off the ground and determined that it was a large-sized demolition bomb, 1.2m long, 22cm in diameter, and weighing about 120kg. At 12:40 on March 5, the bomb was transported and successfully detonated by the engineering force, ensuring absolute safety.
