(Baonghean.vn) - On May 11, 2015, Tan Ky District People's Committee organized a workshop to evaluate new rice varieties and the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) program for the 2015 Spring crop.

The demonstration model of 10 new rice varieties including DQ11, Thinh Du 11; Thien Uu 8, TEJ Vang, Bac Thom 9; GL 159, Phuc Uu 868; Xuyen Huong 178; Q Uu 1 and Vat Tu NA2, in which the control varieties are Q Uu 1 and Vat Tu NA 2, was built on an area of 2.2 hectares in the fields of Nghia Thai commune, Tan Ky district. Through actual production, although this spring crop has complicated weather, pests and diseases have arisen and caused widespread damage, especially leaf blast disease, the new rice varieties have many outstanding advantages in terms of yield, quality, adaptability and better pest and disease resistance than the control varieties.

The construction of demonstration models aims to evaluate the ability to grow, develop, and withstand adverse weather conditions and harmful pests, as well as evaluate the economic efficiency of each variety to help localities in the district choose good varieties that are suitable for actual production conditions in the area to put into production in the coming time.
