New Cambodian Prime Minister outlines 6 priorities when leading the country

The new Cambodian Prime Minister pledged to lead the country's executive branch to successfully implement the political platform that the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) has pledged to the people.

On August 22, new Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet outlined six policy priorities when he leads the Southeast Asian nation for the next five years.

The Khmer Times reported that the new Cambodian Prime Minister pledged to lead the country's executive branch to successfully implement the political platform that the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) had pledged to the people. The statement was made after the Cambodian National Assembly approved him as Prime Minister.

In his speech, Mr. Hun Manet expressed his gratitude to King Norodom Sihamoni for supporting and encouraging the Royal Government of Cambodia.

Mr. Hun Manet also expressed his gratitude to his father, former Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, along with leaders and people across the country for placing their trust in the new generation of leaders.

In addition, Mr. Hun Manet also emphasized the contributions that Mr. Hun Sen has made to the peace, stability and development of Cambodia.

Besides the political platform, the new Cambodian Prime Minister is particularly interested in 6 priority areas when leading the country in 2023.

These six priorities include expanding health care services towards ensuring universal health coverage; vocational and technical training for young people from poor and vulnerable households nationwide; institutionalizing a national social assistance program for poor households, vulnerable poor households, and households at risk during economic crises; developing and promoting the implementation of the Informal Economic Development Strategy so that people can participate in and benefit from the formal social protection system; introducing appropriate financial mechanisms to promote production, find markets, and maintain agricultural product prices at appropriate levels; sending agricultural technical staff to communes and wards and building farmers' associations in localities./.
