The decision was supported by 315 lawmakers at a meeting on May 16, with the minimum number of votes needed being 226.
Previously, seven resolutions on holding the inauguration ceremony for Mr. Zelensky were registered in the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) on May 17, 19, 20, 26 and 28, and June 1.
Mr Zelensky himself has insisted on being sworn in on May 19 and believes that the current administration is trying to delay the inauguration date to deprive him of the right to dissolve the Verkhovna Rada during the legislative term.
Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andrei Paruby said that the Ukrainian parliament will set the date of Zelensky's inauguration at this week's plenary session, from May 14 to 17. Deputies had planned to decide on the inauguration date on Tuesday, but due to the lack of political consensus, they decided to postpone the issue until Thursday.
In this regard, Mr. Zelensky accused the deputies of "deception". On the same day, an action was organized outside the parliament building demanding that the presidential inauguration be set for May 19.
