Certificate of merit for the gatekeeper who saved the train
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of September 27, Mr. Cao Tien Hung - Deputy Director of Nghe Tinh Railway Management One Member Co., Ltd. said that he had awarded a certificate of merit to the gatekeeper who discovered the derailed train.
Vietnam Railway Trade Union and Nghe Tinh Railway Management Company Limited directly went to Yen Ly railway to present a certificate of merit to Mr. Nguyen Anh Hoang - a crossing guard who had the achievement of "Detecting incidents and promptly stopping the train, ensuring safety for train GS2T1 at Yen Ly - Cau Giat section".
On this occasion, Nghe Tinh Railway Management Company Limited also awarded certificates of merit to the Yen Ly route union and rewarded relevant individuals who made important contributions to the timely prevention of the derailment of train GS2T1.

Previously, on the afternoon of September 14, Mr. Nguyen Anh Hoang (born in 1980, a gatekeeper) was welcoming and seeing off freight train GS2T1 running from Vinh to Hanoi on the Thong Nhat railway line when he discovered that the last car of the train had been hit and plowed down the railway sleeper.
Mr. Hoang immediately reported the incident to Yen Ly station and took his motorbike along the road to catch the train. After nearly 2km, Mr. Hoang caught up with the GS2T1 train at Dien Truong commune, Dien Chau district and signaled the train driver to make an emergency stop.
On the evening of September 14, Nghe Tinh Railway Management Company Limited cut back two carriages to repair them and allowed the train to continue moving north. The damaged railway section stretched from km270+210.5 to km269+325, a total of more than 1.8km.
According to the damage statistics, all the concrete sleepers in the above area were chipped and broken by the train wheels. More than 2,680 sleepers of all kinds were damaged and lost their function and needed to be replaced. In addition, the rail components, sleepers, switches, and bridges were crushed, warped and unusable.
After the incident, Nghe Tinh Railway Management Company mobilized nearly 76 people to repair and restore the damaged railway section.
At the award ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Bien - Vice President of Vietnam Railway Trade Union emphasized: "Thanks to Mr. Hoang's quick thinking, train GS2T1 escaped the risk of facing a catastrophic accident and at the same time reduced damage to the railway industry."
It is known that Mr. Nguyen Anh Hoang has been working as a crossing guard at Yen Ly railway since August 2002. For more than 12 years as a crossing guard, Mr. Hoang has always completed his assigned tasks, ensuring train safety and traffic safety for vehicles and people passing by on Yen Ly railway.
