Certificates of merit from the Minister of Education and Training were awarded to 11 excellent students.
On the morning of June 18, the Ministry of Education and Training held an award ceremony for students who won the 2014 Asian Informatics Olympiad and the International Russian Language Olympiad. In addition to receiving the prescribed rewards, the winning students also received certificates of merit from the Minister of Education and Training.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Dat - Deputy Director in charge of Pushkin Russian Language Institute, Head of Vietnam's 2014 International Russian Language Olympiad delegation said: "Vietnam with 5 students from different cities was honored to bring home all 5 awards, including 3 Gold medals and 2 Silver medals.

Specifically, Nghiem Ba Tri, 11th grade student of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted (Hanoi) - won a Gold medal and also won the First Prize for Young Poetry Reader; Do Anh Tung, 12th grade student of Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted, Hanoi - Gold medal; Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, 11th grade student of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Nam Dinh province - Gold medal and also won 2 more First Prizes: First Prize for Young Orator and First Prize for Reading Comprehension; two Silver medals went to Nguyen Phuong Trang, 11th grade student of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted (Nghe An) and Duong Hong Ngoc, 12th grade student of Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted (Hanoi).
At the Asian Informatics Olympiad, the Vietnamese team won 6 silver medals. Among them were 4 students from the High School for the Gifted, University of Natural Sciences (VNU), including Do Xuan Viet, Do Ngoc Khanh, Nguyen Viet Dung, and Ngo Hoang Anh Phuc. The remaining two contestants were Nguyen Phan Quang Minh - grade 12, Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted (Hai Duong) and Nguyen Trong Dat - grade 12, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
This year, Vietnam sent 15 students to the Asian Informatics Olympiad and used the results of the 6 students with the best achievements to participate in the award consideration and the result was 6 Silver medals. According to the medal ranking (unofficial), Vietnam ranked 7th overall out of 29 participating countries. This is a good result, reflecting the true ability of Vietnamese students.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Vinh Hien said: In recent years, Vietnamese students have had many different intellectual playgrounds both at home and abroad.

Not only in international competitions and the Olympics with encouraging results, but also on a mass level, we have the PASEC exam to assess primary school students and the PISA exam to assess secondary school students. In both of these competitions, Vietnam is highly appreciated internationally.
Deputy Minister Hien also advised the award-winning students to continue to study and practice hard to achieve even higher results in upcoming exams.
Representing the students, Do Anh Tung, a 12th grader at Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted, frankly admitted: “This result is just the beginning, the road ahead is still very difficult. That is why I and my friends will continue to try harder to improve ourselves.”
