3G fee increase from October 16

The Department of Telecommunications (Ministry of Information and Communications) has approved a plan to increase the average price of 3G service packages by about 20% for the three network operators with controlling market share: Viettel, MobiFone, and Vinaphone.

This price increase is aimed at gradually bringing the 3G service fee below cost. The Telecommunications Department requires that before increasing service fees, network operators must make public announcements so that customers have information and can choose the appropriate package. If customers do not change their packages, the network operators will automatically switch to the newly adjusted packages. All three network operators have sent text messages to customers informing them of the increase in 3G service fees. The unlimited package will cost VND70,000/month, an increase of VND20,000/month compared to the current price.
