Enhancing safety for Vietnamese people when traveling abroad
Information from the General Department of Tourism (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) on October 30 said that the General Department of Tourism has sent a dispatch to the Vietnam Tourism Association and international travel businesses requesting to strengthen security and safety for Vietnamese people when traveling abroad.

In the dispatch, the General Department of Tourism stated that information in the media said that on October 25, a female Vietnamese tourist was physically assaulted in Malaysia.
This is a very unfortunate incident, causing concerns about psychological, property and physical safety when traveling abroad.
This requires attention to implementing measures to ensure security and safety for Vietnamese tourists when traveling abroad.
The General Department of Tourism has sent a diplomatic note to the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism and Culture requesting investigation and strict handling of the incident, ensuring the safety of Vietnamese tourists when traveling to Malaysia.
The General Department of Tourism recommends that the Vietnam Tourism Association and international travel agencies take measures to strengthen group management, ensure security and safety for tourists during their tours; provide information, recommendations and reminders for tourists to proactively ensure the safety of their property and body when participating in tours.
This contributes to ensuring the rights, safety and health of Vietnamese tourists when participating in tour programs organized by international travel companies abroad.
In recent years, Vietnam tourism has been continuously developing, attracting more and more domestic and international tourists. The number of Vietnamese tourists traveling abroad has also increased rapidly.
According to calculations based on reports from a number of foreign tourism promotion agencies - destinations favored by Vietnamese people, in 2012, it is estimated that Vietnamese people spent more than 3.5 billion USD traveling abroad; the total number of visitors is estimated at about 3.5 million.
