(Baonghean.vn) For shrimp seed production facilities: Facilities that are raising white-leg shrimp need to be equipped with a heating system to ensure that the temperature in the rearing tank is always maintained (280C -300C), and at the same time, clean the tank before putting the shrimp in, and take care of the seed according to the correct technical process.

For broodstock ponds and fingerling ponds: The water level of the pond should be raised to a maximum of 2m, the northern bank of the pond should be raised to block the wind, and water hyacinth should be planted on 2/3 of the pond area to the north. If possible, cover the pond with white plastic to prevent cold air from entering, causing the water temperature to drop. At the same time, strengthen pond management, care for the broodstock and fingerlings; supplement protein-rich food, multivitamins, and minerals to improve resistance to cold.

For commercial aquaculture facilities: Regularly check and monitor fish, shrimp, and pond environment; reinforce and repair banks and culverts to avoid water loss in the pond. Stabilize pond temperature by raising and maintaining the water level in the pond from 1.4 - 1.5m (preferably over 2m). Water hyacinth is planted on 1/3 - 2/3 of the pond area to the North to block wind and protect the fish from the cold.

In addition, you can make a hiding place for fish to avoid the cold by using bamboo baskets, using straw and lime water to disinfect, dry thoroughly, press the baskets full, then plant the baskets in the bottom of the pond. Feed with nutritious food in the morning and afternoon, and supplement the necessary amount of Vitamin C to increase resistance to disease and cold resistance. Monitor the ability of shrimp and fish to catch prey during the day to balance the amount of food, minimizing leftover food. Periodically fertilize the pond with 1-2 kg of lime powder/100m3 of pond (every 2 weeks) to improve acidity and inhibit bacteria that cause disease in fish. Use copper sulfate in a cloth bag and hang it in the feeding area to kill bacteria and fungi that cause disease. Pay attention to clean up weeds and leftover food in the feeding area. Limit fishing and pulling nets to avoid causing damage to the fish in the pond.

For shrimp and fish that have reached commercial size, they should be harvested to limit possible damage due to unusual weather changes.

Farmers need to pay special attention to species such as: white pomfret, tilapia, Indian carp, which are imported breeds that can withstand low temperatures, but if the cold weather lasts for 6-7 days at a temperature of 8-100C, the fish will die faster than other aquatic species, so in order to be able to preserve the breed over winter, it is necessary to do a good job of protecting the fish from the cold.

However, people need to pay attention: The above measures are mainly aimed at disease prevention, so it is necessary to pay attention to monitoring: If fish are sick, they need to be isolated early for treatment, to avoid spreading to the fish in the pond, and to catch and isolate dead fish early for destruction.
