Conference overview.
In recent years, rabies has occurred in many localities across the country and is becoming more and more complicated. According to statistics, the country has about 10 million dogs and more than 530 dogs have been found to have rabies since 2009, while the rate of dog rabies vaccination in localities is very low, below 60%. The number of deaths from rabies each year is estimated at about 100 people, ranking first among deaths from other infectious diseases.
In Nghe An, from 2008 to present, the whole province has had 30 deaths due to rabid dog bites. Meanwhile, the work of preventing and controlling rabies is still facing many difficulties, mainly due to the subjectivity and limited awareness of the people. Along with that, the work of managing dog herds is still loose, the vaccination of dogs against rabies has not been seriously implemented; There is no good coordination between the health sector, veterinary medicine and local authorities in preventing rabies and diseases transmitted from animals to humans.
At the conference, delegates listened to reports on the rabies situation in the world and in the country and shared experiences and difficulties in rabies prevention in their localities, discussed plans and solutions to implement rabies prevention in the coming time, striving to repel rabies as soon as possible. ...
Speaking at the conference, comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh clearly stated Nghe An's determination in preventing rabies with measures such as strengthening training for medical staff at all levels, strengthening supervision, responding to epidemic prevention work and especially promoting communication work so that all people understand about rabies, and authorities at all levels really get involved in effective prevention./.
