(Baonghean.vn) - This is the direction of the Food Safety and Hygiene Department in response to the situation in many localities across the country where a number of poisoning cases related to food sold in front of school gates have occurred.
Accordingly, to proactively ensure food safety and prevent food poisoning at schools in Nghe An province, the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene requests the Office of the People's Council - People's Committee of Tuong Duong, Thanh Chuong, Quy Chau, Que Phong districts and the health departments of districts, cities and towns across the province to coordinate with the Department of Education and Training of districts, cities and towns to strengthen communication and training to disseminate knowledge about food safety and foodborne diseases for schools with semi-boarding and boarding kitchens; raise awareness, roles and responsibilities of heads of educational institutions.
In addition, it is necessary to promote propaganda and education to raise awareness and change unsafe food behaviors and habits in selecting, preserving, processing and using food of education managers, teachers, school staff, students and parents.

However, the risk of food insecurity is still likely to occur because there are currently many goods and foods of unknown origin being sold at shops in front of school gates; the conditions for preservation according to regulations are not strictly followed. Therefore, in parallel with the warning, in the coming time, the industry will establish an inspection team to monitor food safety work in school kitchens; food service establishments, and street food in the area around schools.
From there, promptly detect products and facilities that do not ensure food safety so that the school can inform parents and students, and at the same time, strictly handle violations (if any) according to the provisions of the law.
