Strengthening solutions to limit re-encroachment of traffic safety corridors

(Baonghean.vn) – Implementing Decision 16 of the Provincial People's Committee on the establishment of interdisciplinary working groups to inspect and urge the implementation of ensuring traffic safety and order, urban sidewalk clearance, and traffic safety corridors in 2016, on the morning of January 18, working group No. 4 led by comrade Pham Hong Quang - Deputy Director of the Department of Transport inspected Do Luong and Thanh Chuong districts.

The working group inspected the work of clearing sidewalks and traffic safety corridors on some roads and central areas of Do Luong town. After the inspection, the group worked with the district leaders.

Implementing Decision 16 of the Provincial People's Committee, Do Luong district has mobilized to clear traffic safety throughout the area; organized the signing of a commitment to self-clearance and no re-encroachment for 556 cases, and issued warnings to 419 violators. At the same time, it resolutely handled violations, removed 71 kiosks and temporary shelters; seized 65 billboards, demolished 45 meters of fence... Directed the town police to handle 8 cases of intentional encroachment and re-encroachment of urban sidewalk traffic safety corridors.

Some main streets in Do Luong town have remained clear since the campaign started in early January 2016.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Pham Hong Quang acknowledged the efforts of the locality in implementing traffic safety and order; in general, the corridors and sidewalks have become more open since the campaign and clearance. He suggested that the district continue to strengthen regular propaganda work, especially from now until Tet. The district needs to have a plan to maintain the results in a sustainable manner, limit the situation of re-encroachment; pay attention to solving the situation of market meetings that still exist on National Highways 15 and 46.

In Thanh Chuong district, implementing the decision of the Provincial People's Committee, 100% of communes and towns have launched campaigns to clear traffic safety corridors. Over 1,300 violations were required to clear themselves, such as goods, boards, and billboards; dismantle over 209 billboards; 2,500 m2 of roofs... Cases that were not cleared themselves have been basically completed, especially in town areas and markets.

Although the district has launched propaganda, reminders, and handled violations, in Dung town, re-encroachment still occurs.

Working with the leaders of Thanh Chuong district, comrade Pham Hong Quang - Deputy Director of the Department of Transport suggested that the district should continue to propagate and resolutely handle violations to limit the situation of re-encroachment on roads and sidewalks.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Pham Hong Quang - Deputy Director of the Department of Transport acknowledged that the implementation of ensuring traffic safety and order, clearing urban sidewalks and traffic safety corridors in Thanh Chuong district has generally created positive changes. However, there are stilliCurrently, the situation of encroachment on sidewalks for trading, market holding, encroachment on roadsides is still quite difficult. It is recommended that localities focus on continuing to strengthen propaganda, inspection and resolutely handle traffic safety hotspots. There should be solutions to limit the situation of re-encroachment on traffic safety corridors in the area.
