Strengthening moral education and civic awareness for the young generation

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of October 30, under the chairmanship of comrade Tran Hong Chau - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee continued the meeting to give opinions on the results of 5 years of implementing Resolution No. 25/NQ/TW of the 7th Central Executive Committee (10th term) on strengthening the Party's leadership over youth work in the period of industrialization and modernization. Also attending was comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

After 5 years of implementing Resolution No. 25/NQ/TW of the Party Central Committee (10th tenure), departments, branches and organizations have effectively built and implemented 10/11 programs and projects; 8/13 basic targets in the program and action No. 20-Ctr/TU of the Provincial Party Committee, creating positive changes in the awareness and responsibility of the political system and the whole society regarding youth work. Many localities have concretized the content of the Resolution in conjunction with implementing socio-economic policies into the youth development program, initially building a number of mechanisms, creating an environment and conditions for youth organizations and associations to operate, for the young generation to study, practice and mature.

In the past 5 years, the Youth Union at all levels has received over 10,000 youth projects and works worth nearly 20 billion VND; the whole province has introduced nearly 40,500 outstanding Youth Union members for the Party to consider and admit. Of these, 20,230 Youth Union members were admitted to the Party, accounting for more than 70% of the total number of new Party members; Youth Union organizations and associations provide a source of successor cadres for sectors and localities.

However, the implementation of the action program to implement Resolution 25 has not been uniform. Some pressing issues related to youth and youth work have not been promptly addressed. Some indicators such as attracting talent, vocational training, job creation, youth solidarity, etc. have been low; young people working far away account for a large proportion (nearly 50%); the proportion of young cadres with potential being included in planning and use is limited; a number of young people are weak in moral qualities, lack ideals and ambitions, violate the law and engage in social evils. Some youth organizations operate in a formal manner, lacking depth and reach, and failing to keep up with the development needs of young people. Some party committees and mass organizations have not really paid attention to youth work.

Comrade Tran Hong Chau delivered a concluding speech at the meeting.

After listening to the opinions of comrades in the Standing Committee, comrade Tran Hong Chau highly appreciated the implementation of programs and actions to implement Resolution 25 by Party committees at all levels, the close coordination of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organizations, and the efforts to innovate the content and methods of solidarity and gathering of youth by youth organizations at all levels.

In the current context, comrade Tran Hong Chau requested that the Youth Union and Association at all levels must strengthen the education of ethics, revolutionary ideals, traditions, culture, and civic awareness for the young generation. Party organizations, authorities, the Fatherland Front and organizations must include youth work in their annual tasks; create conditions for young people to participate in the province's socio-economic programs; the Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Youth Union need to innovate mobilization methods, diversify gathering forms to widely attract young people; regularly train and equip young people with integration skills in the market mechanism; the Youth Union and Association must be the vanguard force in the struggle to protect the Party, authorities, union members and association members from the plots of peaceful evolution, enticement and incitement of hostile forces.
