On the afternoon of December 5, in Tokyo, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung held talks with President of the Japanese House of Councilors Hihirata Kenji.

On the morning of December 5, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and members of the high-ranking delegation of the National Assembly arrived in Tokyo, beginning an official visit to Japan at the invitation of President of the Japanese House of Councilors Hirata Kenji.

On the afternoon of December 5, at the Japanese Senate headquarters, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung held talks with Japanese Senate President HiHirata Kenji.

Speaking at the talks, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung sincerely thanked the President and the Japanese House of Councilors for their warm and respectful welcome to the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly.

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the purpose of the delegation's visit this time is to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries to develop more comprehensively in all fields; at the same time, promote the friendship and cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Japanese House of Councilors.

Delighted to witness the achievements of the Japanese people in the process of recovering and rebuilding the country after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, the National Assembly Chairman firmly believes that with tireless efforts, strong spirit and will, solidarity and sharing, the Japanese people will make the country increasingly prosperous, with an increasingly important role and position in the region and the world. The Vietnamese people are ready to do everything in their power to support and unite with the Japanese people.

The National Assembly Chairman expressed his satisfaction with the good development of the bilateral relationship, which is increasingly deepening; emphasizing that the two countries need to coordinate well to successfully organize the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Year to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2013.

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung affirmed that the National Assembly, Government and people of Vietnam highly value and wish to continuously deepen the friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Japan, considering this one of the top priorities in Vietnam's foreign policy.

On this occasion, on behalf of the National Assembly, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung respectfully thanked the Government and people of Japan for continuing to provide high levels of ODA to Vietnam and stated that Vietnam always attaches importance to the effective and appropriate management and use of this capital source.

Proposing contents to improve the effectiveness of the strategic partnership, the National Assembly Chairman suggested that the two countries should increase visits and contacts between the two sides, especially between high-ranking leaders. At the same time, it is also necessary to promote exchange activities, especially between friendship groups of parliamentarians; National Assembly Committees to exchange and share legislative experiences...

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung stated that the Japanese National Assembly and Government may have personnel changes, but the Vietnamese people always trust and consistently value the friendly cooperative relationship; and always have warm feelings for the country and people of Japan.

On behalf of the Japanese House of Councillors, Senate President Hirata Kenji warmly welcomed National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly to their official visit to Japan.

Appreciating Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements as well as its increasingly improved role and position in the Southeast Asian region, Mr. Hirata Kenji emphasized that strengthening the cooperative relationship with Vietnam contributes to expanding and developing Japan's relations in the region for peace, friendship and development.

Senate President Hirata Kenji hopes that Vietnam and Japan will actively coordinate in organizing the 40th anniversary of the cooperative relationship between the two countries; the National Assembly and Government of the two countries also need to actively coordinate more in areas such as culture and education.

Mr. Hirata Kenji also affirmed that Japan will continue to increase ODA resources for Vietnam; at the same time, he hopes that Vietnam will organize the use and management of this capital source in the most effective way.

Senate President Hirata Kenji said that the number of Japanese enterprises investing in Vietnam has been increasing in recent years, and suggested that the Vietnamese National Assembly and Government continue to improve the investment environment and create favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to promote cooperation programs and projects.

Earlier, in the early afternoon, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and his delegation visited the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan and representatives of overseas Vietnamese in Tokyo. National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung briefed on Vietnam's socio-economic situation in recent times and the country's development goals and tasks for 2013 and the following years.

Visiting the people's lives, work and study, the National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the Party and State always pay attention to the Vietnamese community abroad, including overseas Vietnamese in Japan. The Party and State's policy is to always create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community abroad to stabilize their lives, integrate into the host society, help the community maintain and promote the national cultural identity, and turn towards the homeland./.
