Strengthen inspection and rectification of international travel activities

According to the General Department of Tourism, as of December 2013, this agency has granted 1,305 international travel business licenses to businesses, including 9 state-owned enterprises, 428 joint-stock enterprises, 15 joint-venture enterprises, 845 limited liability companies, and 8 private enterprises.

In 2013 alone, the General Department of Tourism issued 207 new licenses, changed 42, revoked 43, and reissued 2 international travel business licenses. Currently, the country has more than 10,000 domestic travel businesses.

The monitoring and supervision of the activities of international travel agencies welcoming Chinese tourists with travel documents and passports through the Huu Nghi, Lang Son, Lao Cai, Mong Cai, Quang Ninh border gates as well as travel agencies that are members of the Central Travel Club welcoming Thai tourists through international land border gates are strictly implemented. In particular, the General Department of Tourism coordinated with the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to inspect the travel business activities of a number of enterprises in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

However, international and domestic travel business in 2013 still had many painful problems, especially the situation of abandoning customers (typically the case of Travel Life abandoning 701 Vietnamese customers in Thailand), many travel companies without international travel licenses but still taking customers abroad, signs of fraud, brand theft...

In 2014, TCDL will strengthen inspection and rectification of international travel business activities in some key tourist localities to clean up the tourism environment and ensure the rights of domestic and foreign tourists.

According to VH
