Strengthening the capacity of the primary health care system

(Baonghean.vn) - On February 13, the Gavi Project Board held a conference to summarize the Project "Strengthening the capacity of the grassroots health system" in 2014 and deploy the plan for 2015.

The GAVI project is funded by the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization with the aim of strengthening the capacity of the primary health care system at district, commune and village levels, through capacity building for health workers to improve health services, enhance management capacity, contribute to maintaining increased coverage, improving the quality of basic health services, especially vaccination services, maternal and child health care in remote and disadvantaged districts.

Conference overview

Accordingly, in 2014, the project opened 04 training courses for village health workers for 162 trainees; 09 training courses on vaccination practice for 354 trainees; 09 training courses on maternal and child health care for 348 trainees. In addition, the project also supported vaccination points outside health stations, supported monitoring of project progress, quality and effectiveness at grassroots levels and provided training on planning, monitoring and supervision for health management staff at provincial and district levels.

Concluding the conference, comrade Nguyen Xuan Hong - Deputy Director of the Department of Health emphasized: "To promote the sustainability of the project, the units need to perform their tasks well during the remaining time of the project, continue to support the development of grassroots health human resources through short and long-term training courses, increase the provision of quality basic health services through providing essential medical equipment and supporting the provision of health services to disadvantaged areas, improve health management capacity at all levels to meet the needs of innovation and development of the health sector in the new situation".
