Strengthening coordination in the fight against drugs

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 9, the survey team of the General Department of Police - Ministry of Public Security worked with Nghe An Police to evaluate the situation and results of the activities of the Border Drug Prevention and Control Liaison Office (BLO) of Nghe An province after 4 years of operation.

Overview of the working session

Since the establishment of the BLO Nghe An Office (May 24, 2011) up to now, the Provincial Police have focused on advising and directing the strengthening of coordination with Hua Phan province, Lao PDR in the fight against crime and drug prevention, associated with the coordination, direction and implementation to continuously improve the effectiveness of the BLO cross-border liaison office of the two provinces located in Que Phong district, Nghe An province and Sam To district, Hua Phan province.

Through the coordination and information exchange between the BLO Offices of the two sides, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police and Que Phong District Police have helped detect and arrest 428 cases, 628 subjects of illegal drug trading, transportation and storage in border districts, focusing on Que Phong area, seizing 5.7 kg of opium, 59.9 kg of marijuana, 115.3 kg of heroin, 17,689 synthetic drug pills, 27.7 kg of crystal meth, 5 grenades, 12 military guns, 184 bullets, 16 cars, 40 motorbikes, 4.7 billion VND and 235,000 USD. Of which, 95 special cases were successfully solved; 67 drug retail points and 6 drug dens were discovered and eliminated. In addition, the unit also received 10 cases and 19 drug-related criminals transferred by the local Border Guard Station and other functional units; discovered and eradicated 6,800 square meters of opium plants planted among crops; made records and sent 172 drug addicts to rehabilitation centers, of which 72 people were treated at rehabilitation centers and 100 people were treated in the community.

Concluding the working session, the representative of the survey team of the General Department of Police - Ministry of Public Security highly appreciated the effectiveness of the BLO Nghe An Office in the past time. Accordingly, it has synchronously and drastically implemented solutions to prevent and combat drugs, especially drug prevention in the border districts and achieved many outstanding achievements. The activities of providing and exchanging information between the BLO Que Phong Office, Nghe An and the BLO Sam To Office, Hua Phan (Laos) have served the functional units to successfully investigate many major drug cases and cases that have received public attention, and have been commended and rewarded by the Ministry of Public Security and the Provincial People's Committee. At the same time, it is hoped that in the coming time, the Provincial Police will continue to advise, consolidate, improve and maintain the effectiveness of the BLO Nghe An Office, contributing to ensuring security and order in the area in general and the border area in particular.

On this occasion, the survey delegation of the General Department of Police of the Ministry of Public Security also presented the Vietnam Map, Vietnam and Asian table flags and the BLO Nghe An Office Signboard to the Nghe An Provincial Police./.
