Strengthening state management of mineral resources

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of May 30, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to evaluate the state management of mineral resources in the province. Attending the conference were representatives of provincial departments, branches, and sectors, districts, cities, and towns. To strengthen mineral management, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision 58 dated October 25, 2013, which specifically assigned tasks to sectors and localities to develop coordination regulations to effectively implement state management work related to minerals in the area. Thanks to that, the work of disseminating and popularizing laws, making adjustments to mineral planning, delimiting auction and non-auction areas for mining rights, handling administrative procedures, etc. has been implemented synchronously. Sectors and localities have established interdisciplinary inspection teams to step up inspection and handling of violations in mineral exploitation and processing, so up to now, state management of mineral activities has clearly changed.

However, in order for the state management of minerals to be strict and effective, it is necessary to strictly implement the coordination regulations between sectors and localities. Sectors should soon demarcate prohibited areas and temporarily ban mineral activities...

At the conference, delegates frankly pointed out the shortcomings and limitations in state management of this field, and proposed solutions to tighten state management of mineral activities. Concluding the conference, Comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged the efforts of sectors and localities in implementing Decision 58 of the Provincial People's Committee, assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to synthesize opinions to advise the Provincial People's Committee to adjust and supplement regulations related to the management of mineral activities as well as strengthen coordination between sectors and levels of government so that mineral activities are strictly and effectively managed.
