Strengthening communication in high birth rate and special areas

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 23, in Quynh Luu district, the Department of Population and Family Planning held a workshop to evaluate the effectiveness of the program of organizing communication activities in special areas and areas with high birth rates.

Leaders and representatives of officials, specialists, and population collaborators of Quynh Luu district and Hoang Mai town attended.

The model of organizing communication activities in specific areas and high birth rate areas was started in our province in 2007. Since 2015, the implementation of the model has been expanded with many new contents and communication methods. At the same time, it focuses on professional activities such as providing services on Population/Family Planning and Reproductive Health Care; integrating reproductive health care/family planning content in communication activities for the community, high birth rate areas, specific areas...

Overview of the Workshop

After one year of implementation in Quynh Luu district and Hoang Mai town, this model has gradually raised awareness and changed more positive behaviors for target groups in implementing policies on population and family planning; built many "Happy Family" clubs, and deployed reproductive health services for people.

At the workshop, delegates affirmed that this is a practical and extremely necessary model. However, population work in special areas and areas with high birth rates still faces many difficulties because some people still have the mindset of having many children and do not accept the small family model. Communication work in some communes has not been invested in and lacks innovation...

The lessons learned at the workshop are an important basis for the population sector to advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue the Project "Strengthening communication activities and providing services on Population - Reproductive Health Care in special communes with high birth rates in Nghe An province in the period of 2016 - 2020".
