Strengthen patrols, control against smuggling and protect national sovereignty and border security

On the afternoon of September 16, in Vinh city, a conference was held to review 5 years of implementing the Coordination Regulations between the Provincial Border Guard Command and the Nghe An Provincial Customs Department (2019-2024 period). Attending were representatives of relevant departments, agencies and branches.

In recent times, the Nghe An Provincial Customs Department and the Provincial Border Guard Command have actively directed the two forces to strengthen coordination, solidarity, and cohesion, promote combined strength, and ensure the implementation of the functions, tasks, and powers assigned to each side in accordance with the provisions of law.

The two sides always actively and proactively coordinate to fight against all kinds of crimes related to drugs, smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and illegal transportation of goods through border gates and seaports; coordinate well in performing the tasks of patrolling, controlling against smuggling and protecting national sovereignty and border security.

In the past 5 years (2019-2024), with the assigned functions and tasks, Nghe An Provincial Customs Department and Nghe An Provincial Border Guard Command strictly implemented the coordination regulations, organized 800 patrols and controls; exchanged 187 information; organized 488 propaganda sessions; inspected 192,716 vehicles, entry and exit...

Thereby, 77 cases related to smuggling and illegal transportation of goods were discovered (estimated value of infringing goods was nearly 637 million VND); 27 cases related to smuggling and illegal transportation of narcotics were discovered (29 subjects were arrested)...

At the conference, delegates highly appreciated the results of the implementation of the coordination regulations, and recommended: Early implementation of the project to renovate the complex at Nam Can International Border Gate, expanding the border gate area to meet import-export activities; Relocating electronic scales or relocating inspection locations to ensure that electronic scales control weight and inspect goods, monitor goods, and means of transport on the same road do not cause congestion at the border gate.

In addition to the regime of exchanging information, situations, and coordinating case handling, it is necessary to proactively unify the development of key plans, organize reconnaissance to hit major smuggling hotspots and lines, especially illegal trafficking and transportation of drugs, explosives, weapons, counterfeit money, gasoline, etc. and activities that endanger national security and social order and safety.

Actively propagate and mobilize the masses to participate in building safe border areas and residential areas, not to participate in or assist in smuggling, illegal transportation of goods across the border and other violations of the law.

Also at the conference, Nghe An Provincial Customs Department and the Provincial Border Guard Command awarded Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in recent times.
