Strengthening propaganda and promotion of Vinh - Vientiane international flight route

(Baonghean.vn) - On April 1, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee had a working session with Vietnam Airlines Corporation on the operation of the Vinh - Vientiane route.

Attending the working session on behalf of Nghe An province were comrades: Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Dinh Thi Le Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; On behalf of Vietnam Airlines Corporation, there was Mr. Trinh Ngoc Thanh - Deputy General Director.

Overview of the working session

The Vinh - Vientiane route was launched on January 12, 2014 with a frequency of 4 flights/week using ATR72 aircraft. In recent times, the People's Committee of Nghe An province and Vietnam Airlines Corporation together with relevant levels and sectors have proposed many solutions to develop the route such as: Strengthening propaganda and promotion activities; Vietnam Airlines deploying direct air routes to shorten flight times and save costs; Changing the operating time from 8:40 to 11:45 to expand the number of passengers from Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, etc.

However, after more than 1 year of operation, the flight frequency and number of passengers did not meet the project's target. In 2014, the total number of passengers only reached 48% of the operating capacity, the number of flights that had to be canceled in 2014 and the first 3 months of 2015 was 56. Currently, the number of passengers traveling by air on the Vinh - Vientiane route and vice versa is still very potential, therefore, the proposed solutions need to be implemented by both sides drastically to maximize the number of Vietnamese community customers working and living in Laos; Tourists from Northeast Thailand and Laos traveling to Central Vietnam, with Vinh as the destination and vice versa.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong proposed to Vietnam Airlines Corporation to continue maintaining the Vinh - Vientiane flight route, consider arranging a reasonable and suitable flight schedule, ensuring stability for passengers; implementing incentives on products, sales policies, ticket prices... On the province's side, it will focus on implementing many solutions to develop the flight route such as: Promoting propaganda and promotion of the flight route; Enhancing the attractiveness of tourist destinations in the province, connecting tourist routes, supporting tourists in Laos and Northeast Thailand; Strengthening foreign affairs...
