(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, April 13, the Standing Committee of the Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province held a conference to contribute opinions to the draft outline of the project "Promoting the supervisory role of the Fatherland Front at all levels, contributing to improving the quality of activities of elected representatives of Nghe An province, term 2011 - 2016". Attending the conference were representatives of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council and a number of provincial departments and branches.
Delegates contributed comments to the draft.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Hong Nhi affirmed: The Fatherland Front is the agency responsible for participating in activities to improve the quality of elected representatives, from negotiating and selecting, introducing elected representatives to participate in elected agencies to chairing the organization of voter contact activities of elected representatives, including supervising the activities of elected representatives.
However, in recent times, the supervision of the Vietnam Fatherland Front over elected representatives has not been carried out in a systematic, methodical and effective manner. Based on its functions and tasks, the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front has developed a project "Promoting the supervisory role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels, contributing to improving the quality of activities of elected representatives of Nghe An province". Therefore, delegates need to contribute many ideas to complete the project and implement the project to achieve high results, both fulfilling the role of supervision and social criticism of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and improving the quality of elected representatives to perform well the roles, functions and tasks of elected agencies and representatives, creating trust for the people, contributing to the socio-economic development, national defense and security of the province.
At the conference, delegates raised issues facing elected representatives today, such as some groups of provincial People's Council delegates operating ineffectively; some provincial People's Council delegates have not participated in meeting voters as prescribed, have not fully performed the duties of elected representatives... Delegates gave their opinions on the scope and subjects of supervision; content and methods of supervision; information synthesis through supervision; and handling of supervision results. The subjects of supervision are National Assembly delegates elected in the province and provincial People's Council delegates. The supervision contents include supervision of meetings with voters and handling of voters' opinions and recommendations; supervision of elected representatives' activities; supervision of citizen reception activities of elected representatives; supervision of law enforcement, standards of elected representatives and implementation of the task of propagating and disseminating laws to the people...
Regarding the conditions to ensure the effective implementation of the project, there must be coordination between the Provincial People's Council and the Provincial Fatherland Front and funding.
