Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son emphasized that among publications, the calendar is a cultural product with a very special character because of its very short existence on the market. This first product to welcome the new year is always associated with richness and diversity in form, design, and type, meeting the needs of society and bringing high economic efficiency to publishers. This year, publishers and calendar makers contributed nearly 3,000 calendar blocks as gifts to units on duty to protect the sovereignty of borders and islands. This is a gift of gratitude from the Vietnamese Publishing, Printing and Book Distribution industry to officers and soldiers on duty to guard and protect the country's sovereignty and territory.
On behalf of the Navy Command and the Border Guard Command, Rear Admiral Nguyen Ngoc Tuong and Colonel Phuong Minh Quang, Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of the Border Guard Command, thanked the Ministry of Information and Communications, publishers and calendar distributors for their attention and presented meaningful gifts on the eve of the new year 2014.
Rear Admiral Nguyen Ngoc Tuong shared that the calendars are not just ordinary gifts but are very meaningful because they introduce the country and people of Vietnam. These publications help officers and soldiers better understand their responsibilities and missions in protecting the Fatherland.
At the ceremony, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son presented the Navy Command and the Border Guard Command with a photo of "General Le Duc Anh, Politburo member, Minister of National Defense reading a speech at the ceremony commemorating the 33rd anniversary of the Navy's founding (May 7, 1955/May 7, 1988) on Truong Sa Lon Island, Truong Sa Island District, Khanh Hoa Province".
